On January 17, 2023, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) officially approved and registered the Journalist and Media Association Grievances Council (JMAGC) as a Level II Self-Regulatory Body for publishers of news and current affairs content, under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

The undersigned is directed to refer to communication dated 27 July, 2022 from 'The Journalist and Media Association (JMA)' on the above mentioned subject, and to convey the approval of the competent authority in the Ministry for registration of Journalist and Media Association Grievances Council (JMAGC) as the Level II Self Regulatory Body for publishers of news and current affairs content as per rule 12 of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

The Journalist and Media Association Grievances Council shall perform functions laid down in the sub rules (4) and (5) of rule 12 for the purpose of redressing grievances related to Code of Ethics under the Rules.
